A Stream Away

I come with a message

Though you wait for answers

I come baring the gift of freedom

A message of peace and

The words you hope will take you home

I tell you with my heart in knots

When I think of the pain you felt the day you left her

My soul turns to the stream of tears

Each of you shed that early morning

When you knew it was time to go

I beg you to stay here

In this foreign land that makes you feel unwelcome

A land where dreams became nightmares

A place where so many brothers took their last breath

And cried out her name in vain

A place where the ones that stayed prayed

That each day would be their last

I beg you to be still and patient

Better days shall come and once again

You shall walk her ground

Smells her earth and feed from her breast

A day perhaps not today, you will see her

She will wrap your body with her wind

Bathe it with her tears of joy

Nurture you with hopes of better days

Home is but a stream away

This land which I beg you to call home

Where you are told that is wrong to be you

Where it is wrong to be the color of coal

The same coal that gives warmth

And cooks their meal

But until that day my sisters

Until that morning my brothers

Pray to the one above

For the patience and the strength to live

Another day away from Aity
